Why do I need day 2 and 8 tests?

Due to the changing nature of the Government’s travel regulations, you should regularly visit the Foreign Office Website for guidance before your trip. Day 2 and 8 testing helps to track different Covid variants, as well as offering more control over the spread of the virus, both within and outside of the UK.

If you are travelling from green list countries and you are fully vaccinated, only a day 2 test is required; you must isolate until you get a negative result. However, if you are not fully vaccinated, you must take both a day 2 and 8 test. You must also isolate for the full 10 days, regardless of your results. When travelling from a red list country, both tests are needed. You must also isolate for the full 10 days, irrespective of your vaccination status and results. We recommend that you book in with us well in advance, so that you don’t get caught out before your flight.

Also, as of 4am on Tuesday the 7th of December, all travellers must take a PCR test (NOT a Rapid Antigen test) in the 72 hours before they return to the UK.

You can find out more about the travel requirements, as well as our Day 2 and Fit to Fly testing procedures, in our previous blog post.

Do I have to isolate for the full 10 days?

It is mandatory that you follow the guidance above. However, we offer the opportunity to cut your isolation short on day 5 with Test to Release. A negative result on day 5 allows you to leave isolation early, so that you can get back to your busy schedule. It is important to note that, if required based on your destination country or vaccination status, you must still carry out your day 8 test, regardless of leaving isolation.

What if my result is positive?

If either of your tests come back positive, you should follow up-to-date Government guidance with regards to self-isolation and testing.
